EPISODE 6

Ring….ring….riiiinnnngggg….

I was still asleep when I heard a buzzing sound, I turned my head to the side-table where my phone was, then I stretched out my hands to pick it, I was surprised to see the caller ID; “OMG” was the only thing I could muster. I kept wondering what I could do, then thankfully the phone stopped ringing, just when I thought I could relax and catch my breath, the phone rang again, but this time it was Mindy calling me. I picked up the phone, contemplating on the options available; “ACCEPT” or “DECLINE”. I finally decided to accept the call, then I heard someone on the other end of the line say “Mindy, breakfast’s ready”, I immediate concluded that it was her mum calling her down for breakfast she in turn yelled “Just a sec, Rylie’s on the phone”. Then she returned to our conversation, 

Mindy: “hey babe, how you doing?” 

Rylie:  I’m just hanging. Just woke up so my eyes are still heavy, though I didn’t plan to wake up this early buh you called so….. Here I am now, awake though I’d prefer to be in bed. Ughhhhhhhhhhhh………………….

Mindy:  So sorry bae, just wanted to check up on you and know how you doing, most importantly how your date with “Mr. Hottie” last night went !!!!!!!!

Rylie: So you woke me so early on a Saturday morning just to know how my date went?? OMG MINDY!!!!!!!!!! Why would you do such, knowing how cranky I get when woken up early, let alone on a SATURDAY MORNING.  Gosh Mindy…..

Mindy: Buh it’s 7:28 in the morning….

Rylie:  Just forget about it… The date went well apart from a few mishaps that took place at the restaurant. 

Mindy: Mishaps??????? How????? What happened????????? Hope you guys weren’t hurt!!!!!!!

Rylie: Nah.... though I got a blow to the head buh it was nothing a few hours of shut-eye couldn’t solve…..  So yeah we’re ok.

Mindy:  A blow to the head!!!!!!!!!!!! How????? By who?????? When ?????? what???? Omg, omg, omg, omg, OMG…. 

Rylie:  It wasn’t so serious, just a light blow, no need to make a fuss outta it… am fine…..

Just then, Mindy’s mum yelled, “ MINDY COME DOWN FOR BREAKFAST NOW!!”….

Rylie: That’s my cue to end the call now, or something’s gonna go down this morning, LOL…..

Mindy:  Lol… Yeah… buh promise me you’ll fill me in with the full details later…

Rylie:  Yeah…. I PROMISE…. Lol… byeeeeeeee

Mindy:  Yeah …bye…..  

 (Both end the call)………

OK…. So now that am up, might as well get one with my chores…. Ughhhhhh…..

(Rylie gets up from the bed, puts on a robe and heads towards the stairs)

Hmm…. Seems like Mum’s up already…. I said to myself as the aroma of freshly cooked pancakes filled the air.

I walked into the kitchen, and just as I had predicted, she was making pancakes for breakfast…. So I settled down into the kitchen chair, said my greetings to my mum and took a few bites and then got up to leave but was stopped by my mum who called out to me, “Sweetie are you alright, you barely ate the pancakes, and it’s so unlike you???”.

 “Am ok mum” I said while trying to put a smile on my face to convince her and lessen her worries. 

“If you say so sweetie pie, just know that I’m here if you need to talk to someone.. ok???”, she said.

“Sure thing mum, Thanks”, I replied and headed to my room to get my dirty clothes to give to the laundry lady…..

Few hours later…..

“Ok…. Now am ready”, I said to Mindy who was in my room, waiting for me to get ready so that I we could head out. 

“Finally, I thought I’d need to come into your closet and literally drag you out. Lol”, she said.

“Lol, I don’t think that would’ve been necessary”, I replied.

I picked up my bag, did a few touch-ups and then we left….

  3 hours later…

Mindy and I had just left the PIZZA PLACE then, we decided to go to the park to chill for a while. On our way to the park, Mindy kept bugging me to tell her what had happened on my date with Ryan and after hours of listening to her pleas, I finally gave in and told her everything , at least everything I could remember, from our arrival, to the blow and finally our departure. 

When I was done talking, Mindy was dumbfounded, the only thing she could say was “WOW”….. And then, after a few minutes of awkward silence, she spoke….

“Rylie, do you know what this means??”

 “What?” I said in a surprised tone.

“It means Kira was right to doubt him in the first instance, OMG, he’s hiding something, for all we know, he could be a robber, even worse, A MEMBER OF A MAFIA GROUP!!!!!!”, she said. 

“Oh Mindy, stop exaggerating, maybe it was just a minor mix up, Ryan’s to nice and sweet to be in a mafia gang” I said, somewhat frightened and uncertain.

“If you say so…. Just watch your back…. BE CAREFUL” she replied, the intense seriousness in her words echoing in my head…..

 

Few hours later…..

    It was already getting dark, so Mindy and I got into my car, then I drove off.

After nearly an hour on the road, we were outside Mindy’s house.

“I had a really fun time” she said.

“Same here. Well gotta hit the road if I’m gonna make it home before my curfew” I replied.

“Lol.. Yh….we wouldn’t want your mum to get upset…. Lol… soo….byeee…. catch ya later” she said as she turned and began walking towards her door”. 

…….

 Ughhh…. I sighed as I pulled up through the drive-thru and finally came to a halt. I alighted from my car, walked into the house and went straight to my room, without saying a word to anyone. I walked into my room, took off my clothes and jumped into the bath tub where I spent almost an hour, just trying to relieve myself of the stress of the day. When I finally got outta the bathroom, I popped on the nearest PJ’s I could find and jumped on the bed, then crawled under the sheets, not concerned about dinner.

“Ughhh… where’s sleep when you need it” I said…It was so difficult for me to sleep, Mindy’s words earlier on kept echoing in my head, and it got me thinking, what if she is actually right, what if Ryan is in a mafia gang.. hmm… “I’ve got to get to the bottom of this, I need to know the truth”, I said while thinking out loud…

….. Few minutes later…..I finally fell asleep.

WHAT IF MINDY’S  SUSPICIONS TURN OUT TO BE TRUE, WHAT IF SHE WAS ACTUALLY RIGHT !!!!! FIND OUT HOW RYLIE HANDLES THE WHOLE MAFIA SITUATION IN THE NEXT EPISODE OF ;
